Following the production of the first video from the Soft Riot album No., which was a detailed, labourious process to create, the approach for the second video off that album, for the track “It Never Takes Long To Say No”, was to engage in a video production that was more impulsive and more based on instinct. In addition to that, the aim was to use a process that would be far less time to work in real time with a wave of inspiration for a more immediate feel. Shooting the main artist footage in a green screen studio set-up, the footage was then processed through a number of fun, open source applications as well as a lot of collage-inspired image treatment and layering. Another key element of this track that was pushed to the forefront where the song’s lyrics, represented throughout the video as overlaid title cards, to bring more focus to the words and written ideas behind the track.
