Soft Riot

“Laughter Takes Off The Edge” is the second track off the Soft Riot album Chin Up, and also the second video to be produced for promotional purposes. The production of the video was a exercise in balancing the creativity of abstract, psychedelic imagery paired with the some relatively complex software procedures. Modulation effects and multi-layered nesting of animated parts were mapped out for the timeline of this video, as well as using a bit of math and Javascript code to apply random number calculations to some of the items. Overall it was an exercise of researching what techniques were available to achieve the look and movement of the video that developed from ideas that originated as visuals through thoughts and daydreams.
